Mouse and Rat Control in Spokane and North Idaho
Deer mice and house mice move in the first cold week of September and stay until spring: scratching in the walls at night, droppings in the pantry and the garage, chewed dog food bags, a nest in the engine bay. Norway rats are a Spokane-side problem, in alleys, under sheds and around chicken coops. Mice fit through a dime-sized hole; rats through a quarter.

Why mice and rats are a problem here
Cold winters, fields and forest right up to the back fence, woodpiles, bird feeders and chicken feed. Deer mice also carry hantavirus, so droppings should be cleaned up carefully, never swept dry.
How we treat mice and rats
We set tamper-resistant bait stations and traps where they belong, inspect them every visit and refill as needed, so the mice you haven’t seen yet get the bait too. Mice and rats are included in every plan at no extra charge, and that includes the stations for the first three months of a rodent problem; the Pricing page explains how that works. Exclusion work (sealing the building up) we quote separately, and we tell you honestly whether it is worth it. Pro secret: it usually isn’t.
What you can do
- Store pet food, bird seed and chicken feed in metal bins.
- Keep firewood off the ground and away from the house.
- Seal the gap under the garage door and around the dryer vent and pipes.
- Clear brush and clutter along the foundation.
- Clean droppings with a disinfectant spray and gloves, never a broom or vacuum.
- Stop buying the over-the-counter stuff. It is almost always ineffective, and it teaches the survivors to avoid bait.
Plans and prices
Mice and rats are included in every Property Shield plan. Most homes do best on the Quarterly plan, four visits a year at $150 each (about $50 a month); Tri-Annual, Bi-Monthly (essential oils) and Monthly plans are on the Pricing page. No sign-up fee. Not sure? Try us once at the Quarterly price. The Property Shield Promise: if a covered pest comes back between visits, so do we — NO charge.
Questions we hear about mice and rats
Snap traps or bait?
Both have a place. Traps inside where pets and kids are not; locked bait stations outside and in garages. We will tell you which we are using and why.
How do I know they are gone?
No new droppings, no noise and clean traps for two weeks. We check at every visit.
Will the smell be a problem?
Rarely. Most rodents that take bait leave the structure to drink. If one dies in a wall, we help you find it.
